Italian Serie A Week 5 Preview: Inter Milan vs. Napoli

We have a mouth watering prospect of a game on Saturday night as Inter Milan take on Napoli at the San Siro.

Both teams are coming off an almighty high in the Champions league as Inter Milan won away in Russia at CSKA Moscow and Napoli comfortably won 2-0 at home against Spanish side Villarreal.

This is going to be Claudio Ranieri first home game as tenure as Inter Milan and he is hoping for a third win in a week after last week away win at Bologna and the Champions League win at CSKA Moscow. His first port of call was drop the 3 man at the back and go for a solid back 4 and in the two games it has worked. As he did in his first season at Roma Claudio Ranieri has installed some stability and some grit. But how will this show on Saturday after a draining during midweek and losing Giampaolo Pazzini due to injury will be a massive blow.
Giampaolo Pazzini injury adds to the players in the treatment room which includes Wesley Sneijder, Douglas Maicon, Thiago Motta, Dejan Stankovic and now Giampaolo Pazzini injury adds to Claudio Ranieri woes, but with these injury players like Ricky Alvarez and Mauro Zarate will be chomping at the bit to impress as deputies.

Napoli are coming into the game on a massive confidence after a brilliant 2-0 win over Villarreal but it did come at a cost as star striker Edinson Cavani will miss the game due to injury with a sprained ankle and Goran Pandev looks likely to deputise against his old club. like Inter Milan, Napoli had a draining match in midweek as in the style of Football they play with high octane paced and counter attack style took his toll in the victory. This is going to be a hindrance for Walter Mazzarri as he has to balance his team to play in the league and in the Champions league, he doesn’t want another Chievo performance again, whether he will field a weakened side will be the Question and I don’t think so will be the answer.

This is Napoli 2nd massive test in the opening 5 weeks of the season after the AC Milan home win 2 weeks ago where they won 3-1 this will be a totally difference but with the result in midweek can they repeat the midweek result we will have to wait and see.

Prediction
I think after a massive midweek for both sides in Europe they return to the bread and butter to the league. Tiredness/fatigue will play in the game so I think a draw will be a fair result so a 1-1 draw.

Probable starting XI

Inter Milan (4-3-1-2) Julio Cesar; Nagatomo, Lucio, Samuel, Chivu; Cambiasso, Zanetti, Obi; Alvarez, Milito, Forlan.

Napoli (3-4-1-2) De Sanctis; Aronica, Campagnaro, Cannavaro; Maggio, Inler, Gargano, Zuniga; Hamsik; Lavezzi, Pandev.
