Juventus 2-1 Lazio: Krasic With A Dramatic Late Winner

Milos Krasic gave Juventus a dramatic 2-1 victory over Lazio with a 94th minute winner with help from the Lazio keeper Nando Muslera. This was the game of the weekend as 3rd vs 2nd and the battle for 2nd as Milan extending the lead thanks to a win over Bologna. The injury list for Juventus includes Amauri, Gigi Buffon, Leandro Rinaudo, Paolo De Ceglie and Jorge Martinez. For Lazio they were missing Mourad Meghni, Javier Garrido, Stefan Radu and Pasquale Foggia.

With 90 seconds on the clock Juventus took the lead and it was from Alberto Aquilani corner on which Giorgio Chiellini got in front of Stefano Mauri to power a header on. It was nearly 2-0 moments later as Krasic burst down the right and pulled back for Quagliarella who shot over from close range. Lazio equalised after 14 minutes and it was from a Juventus defensive howler, a Hernanes corner was not deal with by Marco Storari who tried to punch away the corner but didn’t get any elevation and Mauro Zarate bundled home from close range. Storari claimed he was pushed but it did appear that he ran straight into his team mate Bonucci. Lazio nearly completed a turnaround when Sergio Floccari went on the attack put his attempt wide of goal. Alberto Aquilani went close but his free kick took a deflection and clipped the cross bar. Just before the half time whistle both teams had chances as Vincenzo Iaquinta drilled wide and then his strike partner Fabio Quagliarella had a shot charged down. At the other end Stefano Mauri wasted a golden chance by electing to go for goal and instead of passing.

The 2nd half was played at a lesser pace as both teams seemed to be playing for the draw, Aquilani had an angle drive parried well by Muslera and then Claudio Marchiso thought he scored but had his effort accidentally charged down by his team mate Iaquinta. Del Neri then made some changes by bringing on Pepe and Alessandro Del Piero for Marchiso and Quagliarella respectively. Simone Pepe came straight into the game as he stung the palms of Muslera from 20 yards out. A scuffle then broke out on the touchline as both Dias and Del Piero tangled as Dias brought down Del Piero, it was all handbags and it was all sorted out quickly. As stoppage time approached Milos Krasic strode past Cavanda who he tormented all game and was brought down and the defender was booked. From the resulting free kick Del Piero from a tight angle lofted a curled effort which was finger tipped over the bar by Muslera. But moments later the winner was scored as Momo Sissoko threaded a delicious through ball to Krasic who just kept running and running towards goal and tried to send a cross in and it was deflected into his own net by Muslera at the near post.

Since arriving from CSKA Moscow in the summer Milos Krasic has been a hit in Turin. His tricky wing play and his energetic approach to the game have adored the fans. His debut was against Sampdoria on where he asserted himself quite quickly by assisting one of the goals. In the following week Juventus defeated Udinese 4-0 and he was instrumental again by assisting Fabio Quagliarella and Claudio Marchiso. He managed to bag a hat-trick the next game against Cagliari in a 4-2 win. After the game against Bologna he was given a two game ban for diving in the area, although the penalty was given and subsequently missed. He returned against Genoa and was brilliant on the right hand side and found himself on the score sheet. Milos Krasic have found a new home at Juventus and has adapted very easily and is performing brilliantly week in week out.
