Bojinov Sinks Sampdoria

The last game of the Week 11 fixtures was played on a very misty Thursday night and Valeri Bojinov grabbed a late goal to take Parma of the bottom of the league and kept Pasquale Marino job for the time being. Parma was missing two of the attack force with Sebastian Giovinco and Alberto Paloschi to injury. Sampdoria were missing Franco Semoli, Marco Padalino and Antonio Cassano who is in a wrangle with the president of Sampdoria over Cassano contract termination.

In this game Sampdoria fans were banned from travelling to the game by the authorities. In the poor visibility of the fog, Sampdoria had the opening chance of the game when Vladimir Koman skimmed the cross bar from around 10 yards out after some clumsy defending by the Parma defence. Parma had 2 chances to take the lead when Stefano Morrone went on a run and had a deflected effort just go wide. Gabriele Paletta had a header from another corner go over the bar. Parma had a fantastic chance to take the lead before the break when Cristian Zaccardo who broke down the right and crossed for Antonio Candreva who forced a finger tip save from Gianluca Curci.

As the 2nd half kicked off Sampdoria made a change Massimo Volta replaced Luciano Zauri who took a knock. Antonio Candreva was the heart of the Parma attack again as he combined with Marques but Candreva effort hit the side netting. Sampdoria had their best chance of the game as a Giampaolo Pazzini free kick smashed the cross bar and went back into safety. Pazzini had another chance and did worse when through on goal and he scuffed his effort wide. Sampdoria hit the upright again when Pazzini effort skimmed the post so Sampdoria hit the upright 3 times. The goal for Parma came after 84 minutes when Valeri Bojinov broke the offside trap from a Cristian Zaccardo pass and slotted home past the on rushing Curci. Antonio Candreva almost made it 2-0 when he his effort was saved by Curci and Crespo had his shot smothered by Curci. Sampdoria almost threatened in stoppage time as Daniele Mannini crossed to Volta who had an effort flash across the face of goal.
