Marcello Lippi Names His 23-Man Squad

Shockly left behind are Marco Borriello and Giuseppe Rossi. Also absent are the usual suspects of Antonio Cassano and young Mario Balotelli both we already knew would never make the final list. Elder statesman and Roma captain Francesco Totti also does not make an appearance in the Azzurri jersey.

Additional cuts for the 28 man roster are:
Palermo full-back Mattia Cassani, Cagliari trequartista Andrea Cossu and Palermo goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu

Italy squad
Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Morgan De Sanctis (Napoli), Federico Marchetti (Cagliari).

Defenders: Salvatore Bocchetti (Genoa), Leonardo Bonucci (Bari), Fabio Cannavaro (Juventus), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Domenico Criscito (Genoa), Christian Maggio (Napoli), Gianluca Zambrotta (AC Milan).

    Grosso and Legrottaglie are not on the team. Daniele De Rossi, however, is.
