Napoli are ready to offer Paolo Cannavaro and Gianluca Grava new contracts, according to agent Enrico Fedele.

“Paolo’s new deal?  I have faith in Aurelio De Laurentiis,” said Fedele, about Napoli’s chairman.

“Despite the delay, I think that there will soon be some good news.  First it will be Gianluca Grava, and then Paolo,” Fedele continued.

Grava, the rarely used 33-year-old defender, will be handed a new deal as his current contract is due to expire at the end of the season.  Napoli captain Cannavaro’s contract has another year to run on it, however he has been rewarded for an exceptional season with an improved deal.

More news, the club is interested in signing Cagliari striker Alessandro Matri, according to the Rossoblu’s president Massimo Cellino.

Matri has scored 13 goals this season for Cellino’s Cagliari, leading to supposed interest from Napoli regarding a summer transfer.

Cellino claimed: “Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis asked me about Matri and I replied it would be an honour to sell him to a friend, but next year we want to be more competitive and therefore won't let a player like him leave.”

Cellino’s comments come after De Laurentiis admitted that Napoli need a new striker for next season.

“I am scouting a striker, a goalscorer. Di Natale is the Capocannoniere who didn't want to come to Napoli. I wanted Quagliarella and Di Natale at Napoli,” said De Laurentiis.

Whether Napoli’s believed interest in Matri materialises with a concrete offer remains to be seen.
