Complete Fixture Results From Round 36 Italian Serie A 09-10
Oh if only Atalanta had won against Bologna the Biancocelesti would know the error of their ways in lying down for Inter. In the end Atalanta had to accept the draw in their relegation battle against Bologna Sunday evening. After gaining an early lead with a goal from midfielder Tibero Guarente in the 23rd minute, the Bergamo side would go down to 10-men with the sending off of defender Max Pellegrino right before the interval.
With relegation looming for the club, and the greatest desire to stay up this season, remaining Atalanta players tried their darnedest to complete the task by pulling to within 2 points of Bologna but were only able to hold 17th place Bologna off the scoring charts until the 82nd minute when an own goal from Federico Peluso would equalize for the visitors.
As it stands Bologna are even on points with Lazio sitting 16th after the draw while Atalanta sit on 35 points with 2 matches remaining in the Italian Serie A season.
If Atalanta had won their encounter it would have left them only 3 points behind Lazio (2 behind Bologna) requiring only one slip up by either to drag them into potential relegation. For any chance of survival La Dea need to win both their final matches while either Lazio or Bologna lose both of theirs.
In my opinion Lazio should be the ones relegated this season and it would be justified after yesterday’s display at the stadio Olimpico with their Inter loving fans cheering on.
Roma President Rosella Sensi is furious after Lazio’s performance Sunday evening which practically handed Internazionale this season’s Scudetto.
