Italian Serie A News, Results, Analysis and Features on Football Soccer

Not sure about the rest of the world but from my bed it’s a holiday Monday and time to catch up on some reading.

On the night table I spy with my eye Jonathan Wilson’s ‘Inverting The Pyramid’, Andy Mittens, ‘Mad For It’, Philippe Auclair’s ‘Cantona’ and at least one historical fiction, ‘The Best of Men’ by Claire Lettemendia. Think I’ll leave that monster of a novel for a rainy day.

If like me you have just stumbled down to the kitchen for a cup of java (actually it’s a lemon tea, my joyous nutritionist’s orders) and are looking for something to read while the morning sunshine wakes your household, may I suggest the following football folly,

Gabriele Marcotti from the London Times has Carlo Ancelotti in the spotlight with his Wall Street Journal piece on how Low-Key Ancelotti Thrives in Tough Spots

Totti still undecided about Italy comback, the AS Roma talisman left the national team after their 2006 World Cup triumph but coach Lippi has consistently said he would consider the 33-year-old for the June 11-July 11 tournament in South Africa if Totti reverses his decision.

Serafino Ingardia over at Football Italia feels Mario Balotelli still has something to learn as do I with Balo out , the air is still tense at Appiano Gentile.

Being an Argentina fan this grabbed my attention, Hand of God hits Argentina’s hopes from the Irish Independent. The first paragraph reads as a who’s who on Argentine scoring options for this summer’s World Cup in South Africa. Messi, Tevez, Lissandro Lopez, Milito and Higuaín all scoring during the last 5 days several winners to boot!

Finally, glad to see former Lazio and England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson back in action after his Mexican experiment and short stint at English League Two side Nott’s County. When recently asked by Agence France-Presse on his new gig Eriksson responded, “I leapt at Ivory Coast World Cup chance”

Why tease me? Offer some links for the books. It sounds like a wealth of fascinating stories have been written recently in various newspapers and books about the world of Calcio.
