Okaka Nets The Winner For Roma - Serie A Round 22 Review

Posted by Scot Munroe Wednesday, February 3, 2022

Stefano Okaka was the hero at the Olimpico as he netted the winner 3 minutes from time. Roma were without their trident of Totti, Vucinic and Menez. So the Beast Julio Baptista started up front on his known in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Roma took the lead when last week hero John Arne Riise smashed in a volley from the edge of the area past Curci. Siena got back into the game just before half time Simone Vergassola's pounced on a Jajalo effort on which was parried by Julio Sergio. In the 2nd half as Roma huffed and puffed Stefano Okaka scored the winner with minutes left as he backheeled past Curci from a Pit cross. He celebrated with De Rossi and Pit by running to the Curva Sud. The last goal for the Roma striker as he is moving to Fulham on a 6 month loan deal.

Inter game away at Parma was postponed due to snow and now will be played on the 10th February. City rivals Milan froze at home against lowly Livorno drawing 1-1. Massimo Ambrosini opened the scoring before half time when he fired home from 9 yards out after Benussi fumbled a Beckham cross. Livorno shocked the homeside when veteran striker Christiano Lucarelli stabbed in a effort from 6 yards out past Abbiati. Livorno held on for a point at the San Siro with Milan attacks leading to nothing. This will please Serge Cosmi who looked very dapper on the touchline with a flat cap and scarf combo. Juventus and Lazio played out a very dour 1-1 draw on the late game on Sunday. Alex Del Piero opened the scoring in the 1st game since the sacking of Ciro Ferrara when he won his side a penalty and scored from the penalty spot. A terrible dive by the Juventus front man. Lazio hit back when Mauri latched onto a Zarate cross to slot past Manniger.

Bari ended Palermo 7 game unbeaten run on Saturday night when the homeside came out 4-2 in victory. Palermo had Fabio Liverani sent off for 2 yellows. Cagliari and Fiorentina played out an entertaining 2-2 draw on where Cagliari came from a goal down to take a 2-1 lead but was pegged back when Stevan Jovetic netted the equaliser. Catania and Udinese played out a 1-1 draw on where the away side will be disappointed with the result as they did not take their chances. Chievo and Bologna finished in the same result 1-1 draw which didn't help Bologna in this game as they are in a relegation battle. A Antonio Cassano less Sampdoria picked up their 2nd consecutive win as they beat Atalanta 2-0. In this game the fans started jeering the Samp boss Del Neri for not picking Cassano in the starting XI. In the late game on Saturday night the spoils were shared between Napoli and Genoa on which they hit the post twice and still have not beaten Genoa in 8 years.
