Balotelli Causes A Stir At Inter Milan

Posted by Kevin Walker Friday, February 5, 2021

Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli's future appears to be in doubt after another falling out with coach Jose Mourinho. The club have reportedly fined the enigmatic striker €20,000 after he reacted angrily after being substituted against Fiorentina.

Moments before the incident the player failed to trackback and defend after losing the ball, infuriating the Portuguese coach and helping him make his mind up over who to substitute as he looked to close out the game.

Balotelli then threw a tantrum on the sidelines and verbally berated his manager as he left the field. He was then seen to gesture towards Mourinho from the bench.

On the field, things are going well for Inter and they are currently eight points clear of their nearest rivals.

The football betting suggests Inter should win the title comfortably, but their manager will know such displays of insolence cannot be tolerated even in a winning side.

Balotelli and Mourinho have had a tumultuous relationship at the club and this is the latest in a string of events that have ended with the 18-year-old striker having to be disciplined. Balotelli was excluded from the Inter squad for the second half of last season after falling out with Mourinho.

The club say Mourinho has their full backing and they support the action he has taken. Balotelli is also understood to be questioning his future at the club saying: "On the field I rarely celebrate. Sometimes it's because I'm angry with the opponents or my team-mates."

The player was previously labelled "untransferable" by Inter chief Massimo Morratti but this latest bust-up has put clubs in England on red alert, with big spending Manchester City a possible destination.

There could be some truth to this speculation as City boss Roberto Mancini previously mentored the striker during his time in charge at the San Siro. It is thought that he shares a bond with the player and he could have the ability to mould Balotelli's precocious talent into star material.

Another option could see him stay in Italy and move to Inter's fierce rivals Milan who Balotelli has supported since childhood.

For his part, Mourinho will be more concerned about bagging trophies than anything else and the sports betting suggests that Inter are in with a good chance of winning the Champions League this season, a competition which eluded him during his time at Chelsea.
