Italian Serie A Round 13 Preview

Posted by Kevin Walker Friday, November 20, 2021

Italian Serie A 09-10 Round 13 fixturesA huge round for Serie A with some big matches this weekend while all the top guns return from World Cup qualifiers and or international friendlies.

Marcello Lippi played his second squad against Sweden on Wednesday so the first team is well rested for their club play including, Alberto Gilardino with Fiorentina who didn't make it off the bench as well as Juventus defender Fabio Grosso.

"The result was an almost unrecognisable Italy with only Juventus centre-back Chiellini a regular first-team fixture" reported Agency French Press.

Fiorentina vs Parma

Fiorentina sitting fourth in Serie A are having a great start to the season. Losing only once at home thus far (0-1 to Napoli) the Viola welcome sensational Parma FC to the stadio Franchi come Saturday. The newly promoted Gialloblu, just 1 point behind their hosts having won 5 out of 6 of their home matches, need to right the ship on their away travels with a 1-2-3 record. Granted 2 of those 3 losses happened at the San Siro against Inter (2-0) and AC Milan (2-0) Parma against the Viola should make for a closer outcome as central Italia meet this match day.

Prediction: a draw result of 2-2.

Bologna vs Inter

Mourinho and crew will not want to see their scudetto lead dwindle further against a Bologna still looking to win their first match on the road. Inter will be missing important arrival Wesley Sneijder as well as Inter youth David Santon. It's important Inter doesn't look to far ahead, with the mid-week engagement against Barcelona looming large and sounds like the Inter manager is calling for focus with,

"It's not the game of our lives in Barcelona" , and "So I won't be rotating players for a hard match against a well structured team like Bologna" said Jose Mourinho /

Look for Di Vaio and Zalayeta up front for the visitors they combined for three Bologna goals in their last match. Bologna are going through a transition with a new coach who is "improving the motivational level" so Inter will have to hold this rose carefully.

Prediction: Inter 2-1

Juventus vs Udinese

Big problems for the little zebras as the travel to Turin and big brother. Udinese could be striker-less as their scoring ace Di Natale is suspended, with Flores, Pepe and Sanchez struggling with injuries. Luckily for the visitors their strongest midfield presence in D'Agostino will be ready to play against Juve. On the flipside Ferrara will have Amauri, Del Piero, Marchisio and probably Sissoko to choose from all having returned to training.

Prediction: I suspect the home win in this one, 3-1 for Juventus.
