Product Review: 09-10 Adidas F50i TUNit Boots

Posted by Kevin Walker Thursday, October 22, 2021

The Adidas F50i has a arrived and topping the performance charts should happen with ease as our latest upgrade in boot technology enters the soccer striker scene.

Our product review partners SoccerPro.com who carry a wide variety of soccer shoes were kind enough to send out a sample pair and out of all the boots reviewed thus far at Serie A Weekly these babies are, in the words of Kenny Hassan from WorldFootballDaily, "very niceee".

I found the Adidas F50i to be very forgiving as the Sprintskin(a rubberized fabric) conforms well to the foot, while the mid-sole "sockliner" provided good comfort in heel and ball zone. The Adidas F50i breaks down into 2 additional parts/zones with a ridged inner chassis TUNit base (placed below the sockliners) which holds in place the outer studs. Speaking of studs...these boots come with a multi-purpose stud-key and 3 stud sets 1 each for hard, firm, and soft ground conditions. All these little extras from Adidas make sure you always turn up on match day with the right boots.

Players who have worn the new adidas F50i football boots, have enjoyed a good run of form, including Lionel Messi, Josmer Altidore and Marcus Berg, who was top scorer in the European U21 Championship.

"With the extremely smooth external skin of the boot, I can play to my full potential. It allows me to make the perfect contact with the ball. It is also a fantastic colour." says Messi,

and although the Messi preferred Cyan/White/Black colors are at the moment the most popular, I decided to opt for the more traditional Adidas F50i TUNit Black/White/Cyan version.

Adidas have recently released a All-White Champions League version which also look "very niceee" and I assume feel just as sharpish (see the images below, look for the Champions League star) and it would be "very niceee" for the Adidas marketting machine if players from Real Madrid's new Galáctico feature in this version to counter all the Messi blue.

Adidas advertising also really pitch the F50i TUNit's fully customisable format, making these a gadget heaven for those of us who like our man toys.

Lets talk technical specs

  • Upper: Sprintskin is a revolutionary single-layer synthetic for incredible ball feel and reduced weight. Innovative lace cover without any velcro allows for an optimal fit and increased kicking area.

  • Lining: Single layer microfibre PU Synthetic which is lighter than ever before. The 3D graphic is different to each boot meaning that each individual will have their own unique boot.

  • Chassis: New exchangeable pre-moulded TUNiT standard insock for premium support and cushioning.

  • new Agion fibre liner: is a inorganic silver compound used on the whole F-Line that prevents growth and migration of bacteria on the surface of the product. Not only this, it also ensures the prevention of odor causing bacteria and athletes foot.

  • Outsole: Traxion FG for grip and comfort on firm natural surfaces. Comes with additional SG and HG studs.
