Serie A Week 11 RoundUp: Juventus Roll On

Serie A returned this weekend after the international break and it came back with a bang as Juventus fine form continued with an emphatic win over Palermo. Inter Milan got back to winnings way over Cagliari. Finally on Sunday we saw the greatest goal to be disallowed by a linesman who ruled out Pablo Osvaldo over-head kick when he was onside.

Saturday 19th November
There were three games on Saturday evening/night due to Champions League fixtures for early next week. Inter Milan got back to winning ways as they beat Cagliari at home 2-1 thanks to goals in the second half from Thiago Motta and Philippe Coutinho. A late goal from Joaquin Larrivey gave Cagliari hope but Inter held on in added time to get the three points. The remaining two games were played on the Saturday night and both games ended in a 0-0 draws. AC Milan travelled to Florence to play a Delio Rossi Fiorentina and only got a point. Napoli was held at home by Lazio 0-0. Only three goals were scored in the three games on Saturday.

Sunday 20th November
Cesena picked up their first win of the season as they got a late winner at Bologna during the lunch time kick off. The winner came late in the game when Marco Parolo let rip from 25 yards out which flew into the top corner. Chievo travelled to Catania and got a well deserved 2-1 win. Sergio Pellissier from the penalty spot and Paolo Sammarco gave the flying donkeys the 2-0 lead. Catania pulled one back from Sergio Almiron. Francesco Lodi did miss a penalty when it was 1-0 to Chievo. That was a costly miss. Genoa managed to overcome a plucky Novara thanks to a late late goal from Miguel Veloso four minutes from time. Genoa was down to 10 men for most of the second half was Antonelli was sent off. Novara was reduced to ten men when Meggiorini was sent off for abusing the referee.

Juventus returned to top of the table thanks to a professional performance over a good Palermo side. Simone Pepe gave Juventus in the first half, Alessandro Matri added the second early in the second half and the icing on top was added when Claudio Marchisio added a third twenty five minutes from time. Udinese lost away at Parma and with that lost their leadership at the top of the league. Two goals in the second half from Jonathan Biabiany and a penalty from Sebastian Giovinco fifteen minutes from time gave Parma the win. Siena and Atalanta played out a entertaining 2-2 draw. Siena fought back twice to gain a point, German Denis opened the scoring from the penalty spot, just before half time Gaetano D’Agostino scored from the penalty spot. Early in the second half German Denis added the second before four minutes from time Gazzi got the equaliser for Siena.

The night game was Lecce travelling to the capital to face Roma and the home side came out on top thanks to a 2-1 win on which it could have been more. Miralem Pjanic opened the scoring in the first half before a brilliant strike by Fernando Gago in the second half. Lecce hit back when on loan Roma forward Andrea Bertolacci done well and wonderfully chipped the ball past the Roma keeper. Then the controversy as Roma thought they had scored a third and Pablo Osvaldo scored the goal of the season when Fernando Gago chipped cross found Osvaldo who over-head kick flew past Julio Sergio into the top corner but the linesman ruled it out for offside.
