Serie A Team Of The Week 38

team of the week

For the last time this season I am taking a look at the team of the week for week 38. Formation is 4-4-2 Diamond.

Goalkeeper: Michael Agazzi (Cagliari)

The Cagliari number one pulled of some fantastic saves to deny Parma. He denied Giovinco with a brilliant fingertip save and then pulled off a brilliant double save to deny Giovinco once again.

Right back: Aleandro Rosi (Roma)

With this performance he could make this right back slot his own. He was comfortable on the ball and gave a disciplined role in defence and was a potent threat in attack.

Centre back: Massimo Volta (Sampdoria)

Even though Sampdoria conceded three goals to Roma attack it was 1-1 for the last fifteen minutes. Volta gave a dominance performance at the back and kept Borriello quiet until the final ten minutes.

Centre back: Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus)

The monster centre back was back to his best after his thigh injury. The Italian defender made some vital interceptions at the back and found himself on the score sheet, getting the equaliser for the Juventus.

Left back: Yuto Nagatomo (Inter)

The Japanese full back was at his best and he was a complete menace to the Catania defence. He also managed to get on the scoresheet with a deflected effort.

Defensive Midfield: David Pizarro (Roma)

The little Chilean was at his maestro best last night against Sampdoria. He is so comfortable on the ball and he dictated the tempo of the play. Sprayed ball left right and centre as he clearly does.

Right midfield: Jonathan Biabiany (Sampdoria)

The French attacker was very lively and his pace caused the Roma defence some problems. His performance deserved a goal but he missed a sitter in added time. One for the future.

Left Midfield: Juan Vargas (Fiorentina)

The Peru international was at his best down the left hand side for the Viola. He scored a brilliant goal in the opening minute, he doesn’t do tap in. Vargas scores screamers.

Attacking Midfield: Erik Huseklepp (Bari)

One of the brightest sparks in Bari miserable season. He was fantastic yesterday afternoon in Bari 4-0 away win, he assisted three goals and also scored himself.

Striker: Antonio Floro Flores (Genoa)

The on loan Udinese striker has helped Genoa from a relegation battle into mid table safety with his goals. He managed to bag a brace in a five goal thriller and could be pivotal next season.

Striker: Francesco Grandolfo (Bari)

Wow a day that the youngster will never forget. His debut was in a 4-0 win away at Bologna on which he scored a brilliant hat-trick which included a thirty yard screamer.

Scot Munroe

A Football fan for around 18 years since the age of 6 years old. My first love is Swindon town now managed by the mad man that is Paolo Di Canio. I have been a fan of Italian football for around 10-15 years now since the Channel four days back in the Uk with James Richardson. I am a Roma fan as well and i have been following the club since 2003 with the attack minded football with Totti and Cassano.
