Serie A Team Of The Week 37

Scot Munroe is taking a look at the team of the week for Round 37. Formation is 4-2-3-1

Goalkeeper
Doni (AS Roma)
Sometimes he causes nerves for all Roma fans but on Sunday he showed form reminiscing to the 07-08 season. He pulled of some really good point blank saves to deny Ledesma and pulled of a brilliant save to deny Maxi Lopez in the first half.

Right back
Christian Maggio (Napoli)
The right back was in tireless form in their home draw against Inter. He put a brilliant shift on the right hand side and then he set up the equaliser which guaranteed Champions League football for Napoli.

Centre back
Matias Silvestre (Catania)
The Argentine centre back was rock at the back for Catania and kept Roma attack very quiet with his solid display. Made a brilliant clearance to deny Mirko Vucinic when on goal, he was a force at the back.

Centre back
Thiago Silva (AC Milan)
The Brazilian centre back as been one of the outstanding players in Serie A this season, and once again he shown his quality. He gave a solid performance at the back and his positioning sense was brilliant. He clearly didn’t miss Nesta as his centre back partner.

Left back
Yuto Nagatomo (Inter)
The Japanese defender has been in impressive form since his January arrival from Cesena and once again he delivered. He was good in attack and in defence providing with a crucial tackle to deny Lavezzi.

Centre Midfield
Hernanes (Lazio)
A brilliant season to boot so far for the Brazilian playmaker and it showed in the game against Genoa. He managed to bag himself a brace and he made Lazio tick with his intelligent play
Centre midfield

Gennaro Gattuso (AC Milan)
A real tired less dogged performance at the heart of the Milan midfield. He was always full of running and managed to get himself on the score sheet.

Right Midfield
Emanuele Giaccherini (Cesena)
The jack in the box winger scored the more important goal that kept Cesena in Serie A and sent Sampdoria down to Serie B. Along with Parolo, Giaccherini has been a shining light for Cesena and had a brilliant first season in Serie A.

Left Midfield
Alejandro Gomez (Catania)
I think Marco Cassetti will be having nightmares over Gomez, he made Cassetti look like a pub player at best. Gomez along with Silvestre was the best player on the pitch for Catania. He managed to score a dramatic winner in the fifth minute of added time. He should of scored moments earlier.

Attacking Midfield
Sebastian Giovinco (Parma)
Moved to Parma and caused his parents club a lot of problems. He never stopped running and he caused the Juve defence a lot of problems. He scored with a magical strike that left Buffon clutching at thin air.

Striker
Gonzalo Bergessio (Catania)
The on loan St-Etienne striker put himself about on Sunday and gave Loria and Burdissio some real problems. Bergessio also scored the more important equaliser after ghosting past Loria and headed home past Doni.

Scot Munroe

A Football fan for around 18 years since the age of 6 years old. My first love is Swindon town now managed by the mad man that is Paolo Di Canio. I have been a fan of Italian football for around 10-15 years now since the Channel four days back in the Uk with James Richardson. I am a Roma fan as well and i have been following the club since 2003 with the attack minded football with Totti and Cassano.

Robinho should be on that list, on the left, ahead of Gomez IMHO.
