Serie A Week 21 Team Of The Week

Scot Munroe presents Team of the Week for match-day 21. Formation 3-4-3

Goalkeeper Michele Arcari (Brescia)

Denied Palermo on more than one occasion and did well to keep the score down. Both Pastore and Miccoli were denied by the keeper on numerous times. Sadly was beaten by a brilliant strike by Cesare Bovo

Centre back Philippe Mexes (Roma)

Replaced Nicolas Burdisso in the Xi and was Man of the match. He was an absolute rock at the heart of the Roma back line. He also did save Julio Sergio blushes twice with goal line interventions.

Centre Back Cristian Zapata (Udinese)

The Colombian international was commanding at the back for Udinese blunting the inter attack when he could, also managed to get himself on the score sheet with a left footed strike.

Centre Back Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus)

A masterclass in defending at the heart of the Juventus back-line, blunted anything that Pazzini and Macheda could do in attack. But he was very fortunate not to give away a penalty for a barge on Macheda.

Right Midfield Alexis Sanchez (Udinese)

The Chilean international was a menace to Inter defence all game and was brilliant all game with his trickery. It only took him 5 minutes to change the game. Udinese will have a problem keeping hold off him.

Centre Midfield Momo Sissoko (Juventus)

The Mali international has had a brilliant January playing as one of the defensive midfielder role for Juventus. Yesterday was no exceptional he was 1st to everything in the midfield, flying in with the tackles. Shows that Juventus are not missing Felipe Melo

Centre Midfield Andrea Poli (Sampdoria)

The Italian youngster is proving to be a real hit at Sampdoria at the moment. Yesterday against Juventus he had the understanding and the reading of the game like a veteran. He was everywhere helping out in defence and helping out in attack.

Left Midfield Antonio Candreva (Parma)

The former Juventus loan has been a real star for Parma in the last few months; he ran into the channels very well and helped out the attackers. He gambled from a corner to score from a rebound as he forced it over the line

Forward Marco Di Vaio (Bologna)

The veteran showed his class against his old team Lazio by netting a brace. His 2 goals were both fantastic finishes and shows a player in his prime, so unlucky not to grab a hat-trick from a free kick.

Forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan)

Again and again he is showing his class for Milan, last week he scored a wondergoal against Lecce and now this week it was Cesena. He put in a tremendous performance and topped it off with a killer goal.

Forward Francesco Totti (Roma)

Er Purpone was back to his old self, after receiving some criticism he silenced the media and some sections of the fans with a stellar performance. He managed to get on the score-sheet with an emphatic penalty which was hit like a rocket.

Scot Munroe

A Football fan for around 18 years since the age of 6 years old. My first love is Swindon town now managed by the mad man that is Paolo Di Canio. I have been a fan of Italian football for around 10-15 years now since the Channel four days back in the Uk with James Richardson. I am a Roma fan as well and i have been following the club since 2003 with the attack minded football with Totti and Cassano.
