Serie A Week 19 Team of the Week
Scot is back to take a look at team of the Week for Match day 19 of Italian Serie A
Goalkeeper
Gianluca Curci (Sampdoria)
The Roma co-owned keeper put in a stellar display against his parent club. Curci was dominant between the sticks and pulled off 3 brilliant saves to deny both Jeremy Menez and Marco Borriello
Defence
Maicon (Inter)
After a sluggish first half of the season, the powerful right back was back to his best. Maicon was powerful down the right flank and his cross to Cambiasso netted the winner, so crucial was it against Catania.
Bostjan Cesar (Chievo)
The Slovenian centre back was rock solid against Palermo. Cesar made a crucial tackle on Massimo Maccarone who is always poised to score.
Fabiano (Lecce)
As the team currently has the worst defence in Serie A this season it was vital that the Brazilian put in a performance and he did not disappoint. Fabiano was unbeatable in defence whether the ball was on the floor or in the air.
Andrea Dossena (Napoli)
The former Liverpool player was absolutely brilliant last night marauding down the left hand side for Napoli. Man marked Krasic out of the game and created one of the goals for Edinson Cavani.
Midfield
Stefano Guberti (Sampdoria)
The former Roma man was a total thorn to the Roma defence all through the game. Guberti gave Marco Cassetti major problems throughout the game. Also Guberti managed to bag himself the winner.
Esteban Cambiasso (Inter)
The Argentine midfielder is back! He was very decisive in the Nerazzurri midfield on which battled to win at Catania. He managed to be the hero for Inter by scoring two goals in their win.
Carlos Grossmuller (Lecce)
The summer buy from Schalke has found it hard to find his feet in Serie A this season, but against Lazio he motivated and was the heart of the Lecce midfield. He also managed to score his 1st Serie A goal.
Mirko Vucinic (Roma)
The Montenegrin was one of Roma’s better performers this match day. In their defeat away at Sampdoria, Vucinic managed to score a wonderful solo effort and was a constant threat in attack, linking well with Menez or Borriello.
Attack
Edinson Cavani (Napoli)
One of the best performances this week nicknamed “El Matador” he was sublime in leading the attack for Napoli. Cavani scored a brilliant hat-trick against a leaky Juventus backline.
Antonio Di Natale (Udinese)
Last season golden boot in Italy is at it again, scoring another 2 goals in the entertaining game at the San Siro which ended 4-4. Di Natale was a constant threat all game and embarrassed Daniele Bonera for his 2nd goal.
