On the 17th January in 2001, Ronaldinho made his entrance into European football by signing for Parisian outfit, Paris Saint Germain. It was a move that came as a surprise to many as most South American starlets normally head straight to either Italy or Spain and often times Portugal. But as it would turn out, Ronaldinho’s experience in France prepared him well for his years at his next club, Barcelona, where he would go on to etch his name into [...]

Inter have unveiled their 23-man squad for the upcoming FIFA World Club Cup held in the United Arab Emirates. One notable absentee is Brazilian teenager Philippe Coutinho who has a leg injury and would likely have missed the tournament in any case. The tournament starts on the 8th December and runs until the 18th. Inter though don’t enter the tournament until the semi-final stage on the 15th of December. Along with Inter, their namesakes Internacional, of Brazil and Pachuca, of [...]
FC Barcelona 5-0 Real Madrid The hosts dominated the early possession, making full use of it scoring 2 unanswered goals before the half, as the new Galácticos youngsters from the capital looked dazed and confused. Cristiano Ronaldo let tempers get the best of him in the 33rd minute, pushing Barca manager Guardiola at the touchline. Guardiola hesitated to hand over the ball for a throw-in. (see picture) and Ronaldo’s actions sparked off an entire team melee. Barca keeper Victor Valdes [...]
Welcome back Giallorossi fans to the Roma Review! I hope all of the Serie A Weekly readers and writers in the States had a nice Thanksgiving holiday. Roma had a big week and many of us, still hungover from Champions League action, were hoping for a better performance in Palermo yesterday. It was definitely a week of highs and lows. It raises many questions for us fans, who are wondering what is going to happen to the team once they [...]
As it is nearly January transfer window time, it seems relevant to look at the contract circumstances currently developing at the San Siro, the Curva Sud in particular. Milan have eight players out of contract in the summer and come January they will be free to talk to other clubs, but should Milan maybe hang on to the players in question or let them leave and freshen up the squad. Alessandro Nesta The veteran stopper is coming to the end [...]
A regular for the mighty Selecao and a star at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Robinho has enjoyed a successful career at international level. But success has not been forthcoming at club level for the former Santos prodigy. Signed by Real Madrid for the 2005/06 season, Robinho had been hailed as the next big thing to come out of Brazil’s seemingly never ending line of world class footballers. But his time at Real Madrid has largely been regarded as a [...]
Two matches have already been played in this weekends Serie A card. Milan travelled to the Marassi to play Sampdoria and only managed to come away with a point after Giampaolo Pazzini cancelled out a first half Robinho strike. Meanwhile, Juventus played host to Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico and this also ended in a 1-1 draw with Simone Pepe rescuing a point for the Old Lady after Marco Motta scored an early own goal… But there are still eight [...]
So after a week of Coppa Italia action in the peninsula, Sicilian side Catania are Southern Italy’s only success story as they progress into the last 16 of the competition. Il Elefanti destroyed fellow Serie A side Brescia at the Stadio Angelo Massimino on Wednesday evening to set up a mouthwatering tie in Turin against Juventus. Brazilian midfielder Martinho opened the scoring for the hosts after just 13 minutes, but five minutes later, the visitors were level thanks to a goal [...]
Esteban Cambiasso scores the only goal in this one and that was all that was needed for Inter to secure their place in the last 16 of Champions League

On the whole an excellent performance by the Giallorossi as they battle back from a 2-0 deficit to grab the win with a goal from walk on captain Francesco Totti. The winning penalty was awarded to Roma in the final moments after Bayern goalkeeper Thomas Kraft sent Marco Borriello tumbling inside the box. Bayern ran out 2-0 winners last time the teams went head to head on Matchday 1, with goals from Thomas Mueller and Miroslav Klose but this time [...]
